When a dealer/friend called me and described this bowl saying: “You are going to want this”, I was not especially excited; until I saw it! This is a simply gorgeous bowl. It’s larger than it appears in Addison Doty’s beautiful photographic “portrait”. It’s form is strikingly grace, descending radically from the wide mouth to a very narrow base; just beautifully potted. This bowl was made by an early master, perhaps Maria Martinez herself. The polish is beautiful; the firing perfect, leaving no over-cooked areas to interrupt the surface beauty. As a bonus, the interior, which appears to have had some use, is gun-metal.
In a word: a gem!
