Superb Matched Pair of Santa Clara Black Polished Moccasin and Stocking Candlesticks, attributed to Margaret Tafoya, c. 1950

Simply the largest and most beautiful pair of polished black candlesticks of this type I’ve ever seen, possibly (and perhaps likely) by Santa Clara pottery matriarch Margaret Tafoya. The form and polish are flawless. The toes turn in slightly to create right and left moccasins. The vertical twists reminiscent of stockings are painstakingly polished. Rarely are we lucky enough to find matched pairs of candlesticks. In this case, rare, unique, beautiful.

Condition near perfect, small scuff on one toe
