Santo Domingo Polychrome Dough Bowls with Stylized Triangles, c. 1900

A warm utilitarian bowl, thick walled and strong with warm richly colored surfaces inside and out. The stone polished interior fired to a rich chocolate red, deepened over many years by preparing and perhaps serving food for the pueblo family. The design are simple panels of largely white negative space created by stylized triangles. A simple and beautiful bowl, very fine and collectible.
