“Small”: Zia Child’s Jar, with Wide Capped Feathers and Corrugated, Pie Crust Rim, c. 1890

Warmth, charm, delight; not sure where to go on this wonderful, wonderful child’s food bowl. Great wear, great patina; this bowl was lovingly handled for many years before finding its way long ago into the art world. The predominant design features are dramatic, red, wide stair-step capped feathers or kiva steps; plus 3 leafed plant inside a black circle; mountains, lines, etc. The black pie crust rim softens the over-all effect. Just a wonderful little bowl.

Condition is well used, ethnographic wear; surface rubs, etc. all in line with its age. But no chips or cracks so rather astonishing condition given age and use.
