Santo Domingo Superb and Very Large Dough Bowl with Richly Painted Stars, c. 1900
This is a magnificent dough bowl. It has great size and presence, inside and out. First, it’s sheer size: 20” wide dough bowls are very rare. The painted design is dark black, rich with classic 6 -pointed stars unusually narrow. The inner bowl is deeply polished red with an inner bowl black cross and post-firing added green paint. An old rim wire is indicative of native repair. Fabulous bowl.
Size 9 3/4” deep by 20” wide
