San Ildefonso Polychrome Scoop, c. 1920’s

$325.00

By the 1920’s, inspired by potter Maria Martinez, the pottery tourist trade was in full swing.  That fact plus a lack of significant wear is the only clue that this finely made scoop may have been intended for tourist sale.  While simple it is nicely formed and painted with rich orange and black against a rag wiped white slip. A very seldom seen form.
