Jemez Polished Red Bowl with Micaceous Swirl Accent by Dominique Toya
Dominique's newest pottery jewels combine polished pottery in the Tewa style with unpolished Micaceous accents; in this case 2 swirls circling the upper shoulder of the jar. This creates a languid liquid effect in both the polished area and in the wave-like swirls. Dominique has been a student of and a collaborator with pottery master Nancy Youngblood. She has learned well; the jar feels like porcelain in your hand. A small jewel by a fine potter who's rapid evolution as an artist is exciting and inspiring.
