Black: Tewa, likely San Juan Jar w/Narrow Neck and Handles, c. 1890′s

Small, early and charming Tewa; likely San Juan, but I’d listen to arguments for Santa Clara origin.  This wonderful and satisfying example is slipped halfway and polished with a definite mid-body demarcation line.  The neck is short and narrow with a flaring rim.  The form is jug-like with angled handles and a lovely round mid-body with rich lower body fireclouds.

Condition is excellent and unrestored.
