Lots of children and not all are happy; good thing that they have a patient mom. This is a very cute little figure onto which Mary has somehow scrunched 6 children, some holding pots, drums, etc. I bought this piece from Mary at her house in Cochiti just recently. She is still active and still producing fine work in a traditional fashion. Her production is not high which has enabled her to hold onto a supply of Cochiti white slip (which is now so hard for potters to find) which uses so beautifully. Mom has Mary’s usual “almost not there nose”. I have commissioned another piece by Mary which I’ll have in a few weeks.
